We received the video below from one of the loan officers who works for our MFI, HUMO in Tajikistan. It shows a client making bread and talking to our Portfolio Manager, Thomas who visted Tajikistan so he could experience the daily life there. Thomas was asking him about his business and how receiving a loan has helped him.
Thanks to the loan officer who gave us this video and the client and our Portfolio Manager, Thomas for participating in this video.
On the 8th of March 2012, SAMIC conducted a social event in Sihanouckville, a beautiful beach resort in celebration of women’s rights day. The people that you see in the photo collected garbage that were lying on the public streets.
The local authority, SAMIC clients and SAMIC staff were invited to join in this event.
These photos show two SAMIC loan officers with two clients. As you can see the officers and the clients are wearing MicroWorld hats, which have the MicroWorld logo on them. These MicroWorld hats are new and were made by SAMIC for their clients to thank them for being clients and being part of MicroWorld.

A video taken by Seyni Fall, the MicroWorld Correspondent in Dakar, Senegal, showing the hustle and bustle of the Dakar streets. While Seyni might think it’s a little strange that we want to see a video taken from the window of a taxi, it’s watching things like this that helps to give us a true perspective of day-to-day living in Senegal, and to better understand the lives of the micro-entrepreneurs that we help to fund on MicroWorld.
